I had been renting half of a duplex from a former student of mine. We had a verbal agreement for the previous 5 years. It was my intention to buy a home within the next year or two. All of a sudden on a Thursday night my landlord told me out of the blue that he was selling the duplex. I was caught completely flat-footed. He assured me that I had plenty of time to look for a home because he figured it would take a while for my place to sell.

After recovering from the shock of having to relocate on short notice I posted a message to my friends on Facebook asking for a good Realtor. One of my closest friends suggested Jessica, and I’m glad I took him up on his recommendation. I called Jessica on Sunday. I found her to be very friendly and personable from the beginning. Jessica was great about asking questions that quickly enabled her to select some homes that fit my criteria. By Monday evening I was approved for a loan. Tuesday evening we saw three houses. The second house we looked at was a bull’s-eye believe it or not, and I put an offer on that house the same night. Less than twenty-four hours later my offer was accepted. This was less than one week after my landlord upended my apple cart (a good thing because also on Tuesday I learned that he already had a cash buyer for the duplex I was living in—an indication to me that he had known for a long time that he was selling and didn’t tell me in order to keep my rent check coming in).

In short, Jessica saved me from having to move twice (one move to a temporary rent situation and another move into a new house). One month after the saga began I was in my new place. There have been no unpleasant surprises in the time since then. It couldn’t have turned out better! Thanks, Jessica!
